Hono Dash!

Hono Dash!

Hono Dash! is a character-driven reinterpretation of Dune, designed as a 2D cel-animation series set in late Shōwa–period Japan.
Set in a single industrial city during the post-war era, the story translates Dune’s epic conflicts into a more intimate, urban scale, exploring tensions between power and rebellion, tradition and modernity.

The project focuses on five reinterpreted character archetypes from Dune: Chani, Paul, Leto, Jessica, and the Reverend Mother, blending Shōwa-era youth subcultures, post-war social tension and uncertainty, and Japanese–Western fashion fusion.

This project also marks my first time completing a full character design pipeline, from research and silhouette exploration to final renders and turnarounds.
